Career goals and what and how to use them to shape your future?

Career objective (or career objective) is another way to answer the question, "What do you want to become when you grow up". It is a set of short phrases written in the head of the resume to illustrate the goals and dreams of the individual and what value he can add to the company in which he is offered to work.


A career goal is one of the most important elements of a resume, because it determines the nature of your entire resume and this is something that youngest people overlook; by its position at the top of the resume. Types of professional goals

There are two types of career goals: short career goals and long term career goals.


Short-term career goals:

achieving them takes you a few months or years and is a prelude to achieving long-term goals, such as learning hard and soft skills i.e. learning language, workmanship or mastering dialogue skills and emotional intelligence.


Long-term career goals:

it is a long-term vision defining your decisions during your career and motivating you during your daily life. For example, you may not like your current role in your company; however, you are patient with it because it is essential to achieve your long-term career goal of becoming a senior manager.


How to achieve your goal important?

There are a few simple steps you need to follow in order to choose a suitable target and achieve it in the fastest time possible.


1. Set your goal:

Setting professional goals is the first and most important step, one cannot proceed to achieve his goals unless he draws them and develops them correctly. Furthermore, in order to determine your career goals correctly, you must be sure that they meet the following criteria:


· Determination:

Before you focus on success, you must define what success means for you. For example, success for one might be to become an executive and it might mean for another to make a lot of money.


· Don't make your goal negative:

Make your career goal something you want to get and not something you want to get rid of. For example, instead of focusing on quitting your job over the coming years, you should think about where you want to be and to reach that place.


· Measurable:

When you set your career goals, put it together with ways to measure your progress, such as Spanish proficiency within two years. Also, when you are able to achieve short-term objectives in the specific time it means that you are progressing at a steady pace towards success.


· Realistic:

Your professional goal must be realistic. For example, you can't aim to win a formula race when you're not good at driving, but at the same time it doesn't have to be too easy.


· Match your experiences:

Try to choose a career goal that matches the experiences you had in your life. For example, if you spent a long period of your life working in a pharmacy, you can make your career objective to become an executive director in a pharmaceutical company.


2. Don't stop reminding yourself of your goal:

Behind every goal a reason why you want it. You always have to remember this reason, write it on paper and think about it and imagine, there are a lot of things that may distract you from your goal and make you forget it such as problems of daily life or negative random thoughts or self-doubt and many other factors that are difficult to ignore; therefore, you must remind yourself of your goal and have a clear vision of it so that you strive towards it with determination without being distracted by anything.


3. Divide your goals into several simple steps:

Huge and difficult career goals are really a great mix of small steps. When you divide your career goal into several steps you will have some small tasks each day and you will feel accomplished after finishing each one, this will help you realize the time you need to achieve your goals.


4. Surround yourself with like-minded people:

This step will help you achieve your professional goal more than you imagine. You have to choose carefully the people you spend your time with, whether it is your work or your personal life. You have to choose your companions wisely and make sure they have a similar thinking and goals to you that will support and inspire you.


5. Learn from the stories of successful people:

Analyzing the lives of influential people in history can help you achieve your professional goal. Moreover, reading about the lives of these people and how they beat the odds will give you a morale boost and keep you motivated for your goal.


6. Track your progress:

You should pay attention to how far you have progressed in achieving your career goal and be aware of what works and what does not. Write down the actions you take for your goal as well as how long each step took and whether you cannot do it better. Do it every evening and plan what you will do the next day and so you will stay on track and never lose focus.


7. Be patient:

Many people have goals they want to reach but only a few have enough patience to achieve their career goals. Certainly all people want fast results and may feel frustrated when they do not see significant progress in their goals, so we must be patient and remember that there is no gain without pain. You can also reward yourself for small achievements that will raise your spirits and helps your patience.
